Vinson & Elkins said Vinay Prabhakar is its new partner at the firm’s tax practice in New York, having previously served as Managing Director and Head of Tax at Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), now part of BlackRock, Inc. (NYSE: BLK).
Mr. Prabhakar’s experience focuses on tax aspects of M&A, domestic and cross-border infrastructure, and energy and private-equity transactions, the firm stated.
“Having worked in private equity energy and infrastructure for most of his career, Vinay is very familiar with the sophisticated tax issues and commercial challenges our clients face,” said David Peck, Vinson & Elkins partner and Head of the firm’s Tax practice. “He will be able to contribute immediately to many of the infrastructure projects we are handling.”
Mr. Prabhakar holds a bachelor’s degree with highest distinction from Indiana University Bloomington and a Juris Doctor from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
