Lieutenant General (U.S. Army, Ret.) Richard “Ross” Coffman – President, Forward Edge-AI, Inc.

Leads innovation efforts focused on national security, AI-enabled mission systems, and cross-sector technology integration.
Former Deputy Commanding General of Army Futures Command, where he shaped the Army’s modernization strategy and integration of emerging technologies across the force.
Former Director of the Next Generation Combat Vehicle (NGCV) Cross Functional Team, where he led the transformation of ground combat capabilities through AI, autonomy, and next-generation systems engineering.
Distinguished 35+ Year military service career as an Armor officer, commanding and directing high-impact units in nearly every echelon and served in multiple deployments to Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Eastern Europe, Bosnia, and Haiti, including as Chief of Staff for a 48,000-person organization, Brigade Commander, and Deputy Director of the 1st Infantry Division. His leadership in operations, budget oversight (managing portfolios up to $800M), logistics, and international coordination enabled large-scale mission readiness and modernization across the U.S., Europe, and the Middle East.
Recipient of numerous awards for his actions as well as those of heroic units of which he was a member. He is enshrined by Centre College as a Distinguished Alumnus. He is the recipient of the Harvey Leadership Award, MacArthur Leadership Award, Draper Leadership Award, Significant Sigma Chi Award, and is a National Security Fellow at Harvard Kennedy School.
